Lakeshore is trying to put together a new Robert Luketic film to shoot next year. The budget is said to be around $40 million. We had previously heard that Eric Bana had been offered the male lead; now word is that Cameron Diaz has been offered the female lead. The plot is fairly direct: a diamond thief and his new female partner aim to heist a billion dollars in diamonds.
Luketic’s last 3 films were KILLERS, UGLY TRUTH and 21. Right now he has a PowerScore of 72.18, which is quite good but not earth-shattering. Solid, commercial films that play around the world. Whether or not the Bana-Diaz cast comes together, or Fox’s ROMANCING THE STONE remake, which he’s attached to direct with Katherine Heigl starring in, comes together first, remains to be seen.
