Paramount has acquired The Gun Eaters, an action-thriller by Alex Paraskevas and Jordan Goldberg. The spec, which will be produced by Ben Rowe and David Lonner, made the Black List back in 2011.

In a bidding war that was settled with a mid-six figure deal, Universal has acquired The Disciple Program by first-time screenwriter Tyler Marceca, with Mark Wahlberg attached to star and produce.

Warner Bros. purchases Kelly Oxford‘s dramedy spec SON OF A BITCH for low-to-mid six figures. WME brokered the deal, Anonymous Content is producing.

Cole Haddon‘s spec SAVAGE PLANET preemptively sold to Sony Pictures Entertainment. Haddon’s reps at ICM and Anonymous Content brokered the deal.

Taylor Sheridan‘s spec COMANCHERIA sold to Sidney Kimmel. Film 44 is attached to produce. Gersh’s Bayard Maybank and Elevate’s Jenny Wood repped the sale.
The Scoggins Report: March 2012 Spec Market Roundup
It might be a little early to pronounce a script “most expensive spec of the year,” given that it’s barely April. And yet it’s hard to believe we’ll see more than one screenplay sell for $3 million this year. That’s right - James Vanderbilt’s WHITE HOUSE DOWN sold for $3 million last week.
It would have been enough for us if the number of sales simply maintained last year’s steady pace. [As some of us will be saying at our Passover Seders later this week: Dayenu.] But now, not only have 2012′s spec sales numbers surged back ahead of 2011′s, buyers are willing to pony up megabucks for them.
