Todd Phillips on KCRW’s “The Treatment”

The silver lining of LA traffic: I’ve been catching up on podcasts lately, including the below interview of writer/director/producer Todd Phillips (The Hangover Part 2) by Elvis Mitchell on KCRW’s “The Treatment,” from last week. My favorite bit: During a discussion of how to do sequels well, Phillips says he thought Meet The Fockers was so bad it made him re-evaluate whether he liked Meet The Parents in the first place.

No mention of Little Fockers, which one assumes he hasn’t seen.

  • Disappointed

The same can be said of the Hangover II. I can’t tell if I liked the first one now or not. But if you ask Todd, he’ll tell you he’s a comedic genius. I just hope he pays the price one day at the box office for pushing this terrible sequel on us and claiming it’s original and fresh.

  • Mike

He sounds like he honestly believes Part II is inspired and brilliant. He’s not being honest with himself.
