Spec Script Sale: HE’S FUCKIN PERFECT, by Lauryn Kahn (sold to Fox 2000)

Borys Kit at THR has the scoop on a big spec sale to Fox 2000 today: Tyro Lauryn Kahn’s romantic comedy, HE’S FUCKIN PERFECT, which went for “in the $1 million range” and has Will Ferrell and Adam McKay attached to produce through their Gary Sanchez banner. Kahn had been McKay’s assistant. The project is already on the fast track: We’re hearing there’s an offer out to a director already.

Not for nothing, but Kit clearly doesn’t read The Scoggins Report. Though he says today’s sale “…shows that with the right material, the spec market still has the occasional throbbing pulse despite years of decline,” our loyal audience knows 2011′s spec market has been on a tear all year. Our updated Spec Market Scorecard goes out to our mailing list tonight as usual.

I JUST covered “He’s Fucking Perfect” How is it that a script that has supposedly sold for a million is still making rounds for coverage? Is this based on fact or just spreading rumors?

Any number of reasons someone would send it out for coverage well after it sold. It’s pretty well confirmed though, by Deadline and elsewhere. When it went out, Will Ferrell’s company was attached to produce, and Emma Stone was attached to star. That’s how the price got to seven figures.

I recommended a pass by the way. Didn’t seem like a million dollar script to me.
