Congrats to our friends at Madhouse who had a fairly fantastic week of pitch sales. Deadline reported yesterday that Universal bought Madhouse-repped Adam Kunka’s CRIME OF THE CENTURY, for Chris Morgan to produce through his new Universal-based shingle. Dan Trachtenberg, famed director of that fantastic “Portal: No Escape” short that caught fire on YouTube last month, is attached to direct. (The short is embedded below.)
And today comes word via Variety that Warner Bros. bought Madhouse-repped James Erwin’s pitch ROME, SWEET ROME for Madhouse and Hollywood Gang to produce.
Nice work, everyone. The above marks Universal’s 11th pitch purchase of the year, by our count, and Warner Bros.’s 8th (on top of their dozen spec purchases this year). Speaking of which, we’ve pulled together an updated Pitch Sale Scorecard and plan to push it out in a special edition of The Scoggins Report early next week. If you don’t already get the free Scoggins Report newsletter, now would be a good time to sign up.
