Johnny Depp has signed on to star in Wes Anderson‘s latest project, The Grand Budapest Hotel, a somewhat unconventional move for Depp after starring in blockbuster after blockbuster since 2003′s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Anderson’s last film, Moonrise Kingdom, was a competing film at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and gained enough of an audience to cash in an impressive $40 million at the domestic box office. Anderson will be producing the pic alongside Scott Rudin and Indian Paintbrush‘s Steven Rales.
