OWA FIlled: Playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to pen “Little Shop of Horrors” Remake. Gordon-Levitt to star

After starring in Inception and the highly-anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is eyeing a third Warner Bros. project: a remake of the quirky musical, Little Shop of Horrors. Playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who recently did a rewrite for the troubled Broadway musical Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark, has come on board to write the script.

Casting news: Demian Bichir is “Trapped” with William Friedkin

Academy Award-nominee Demian Bichir has signed up to star in “Trapped,” a thriller written by Gary Young. While the story is being kept under wraps, legendary film director William Friedkin will helm the project. Friedkin reached icon status in 1973 when he directed The Exorcist, considered by many as the scariest movies of all time.

Acquisitions: Weinstein nabs distribution rights to Hoffman’s directorial debut

The Weinstein Company is acquiring the U.S. and Latin America distribution rights to Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut, “Quartet.” According to Deadline, the comedy-starring Maggie Smith and Michael Gambon-is being sold for at least $3 million, with WME brokering the deal.
