Focus Features has acquired worldwide rights to ‘Kill the Messenger‘, the film to be directed by Peter Landesman and starring ‘Hansel & Gretel’ star Jeremy Renner. The film will tell the true story of journalist Gary Webb, who became the target of a vicious smear campaign that led him to commit suicide. Landesman also wrote the screenplay, and Scott Stuber, Renner, and Naomi Despres will produce.
