Ethan and Joel Coen will rewrite the script for ‘Unbroken‘, to be directed by Angelina Jolie. The film will tell the story of World War II survivor Lou Zamperini and is based on Laura Hillebrand’s novel. Universal has been trying to tell Zamperini’s story for decades, and it acquired the rights to the book on January 2011. Zamperini was a high school track star and a 1936 Olympian who in World War II was part of a US Air Force plane that crashed in the Pacific. He survived without food or water for 47 and was later held as a prisoner of war in Japan. Erwin Stoff and Matthew Baer will produce, along with Jolie.
